During October 6-8th the pedalers were invited to the home of Bob & Patsy Lummis in Marshfield, Mo for some riding in the Ozarks. Those attending were Joel & Shirley, Walt & Betty and Dale & Judy. Photos here.
On Saturday there was a ride to Turners Station where we stopped for lunch. The lunch choices were a cold sandwich lunch for $5.50, or a Hot Lunch for $5.50. Most opted for the hot lunch which included Roast Pork, Baked Potato, vegatable and a drink. What a bargain and the food was great.
The total ride round trip to Turners station was 56 miles. The route there was quite scenic - if you know what I mean. The return route was a little less hilly as it went near Interstate 44. We did find that Bob's place is about the highest elevation of the route. We finished with a supper of grilled hamburgers and braut wurst with potato salid and a desert of cake and apple pie.
On Sunday, we opted for a shorter ride, ending up with about 30 miles. The route took us through some Amish territory. During the ride we had to stop twice to wait for an Amish horse drawn buggy to pass, as the horses were spooke by our bicycles. Actually now that I think about it we are a pretty scarry group. After the ride and a showere, we finished with an excellent breakfast caserole prepared by Patsy.
We all had an excellent time and left for home around 2:00 pm.
