Alan Freeman called the meeting to order at 7:06 after we enjoyed watermelon and strawberries. Yes, some people put whipped cream on both.
The Firecracker Century will be Saturday, July 5 and will include a picnic lunch at the park in Sperry. Cost for lunch will be $5 per person. Please let
Treasurer Shirley Martin: Has paid the club insurance premium. The next premium will be due in February. It is priced on a per member basis, and she paid for a few extra members to accommodate new members we might obtain this year. Our cash balance is $1555.49.
Boys and Girls Club ride discussion (cribbed notes from Dan Schultes, since he has already distributed them):
Volunteering to:
Determine Routes: Rod Harwood & Steve Corbett. Routes are to be 5 mile Fun ride, 15 miles (could use the 15 mile route from last year), 50 miles and 100 miles. These route lengths have been advertised.
Mark Routes: Norman Hinsdell, Joel Martin, Shirley Martin. Will need several more volunteers for this effort
SAG Wagon: Rhonda Freeman. Will need another 1 or 2 volunteers for this effort.
Help at rest stops: Mirelle will continue to recruit volunteers from other sources, but if you’d like to volunteer for this task, just let Mirelle know.
Sign-up to bike 1 of the routes and/or recruit others to bike route: Opportunity for each of us.
Ride will be Saturday, September 13, beginning at Boys & Girls Club in Bartlesville. Rides start at 8:00am.
Someone asked last night about the participation on the route lengths we had last year, here’s what I found:
· 62 mile- 50 people
· 35 mile- 22 people
· 15 mile- 10 people
· 84 total riders, so 2 people were not included in the categories above
Thanks to those who volunteered! Also, if you would like to volunteer for any of the tasks above,
Credit Card Ride: Tentatively scheduled for July 19 and 20 to Independence. Bring your credit card and stay overnight at a motel. A driver will bring whatever luggage you need. Enjoy an early morning ride to Independence, and then enjoy watching the Tour de France in air conditioned comfort and a dinner out. Ride home the following morning.
July meeting: Scheduled for July 21 at 6:30 at the downtown Pizza Hut.
Reports of successful Freewheel and Biking Across Kansas rides were given.
