Bartlesville Pedalers Minutes April 18, 2016
The meeting was held at the downtown Pizza Hut with approximately 13 members present. The meeting was called to order by Shirley Martin. Mike Bouvier was introduced. He is the Republican county commissioner for Washington County. He has been overseeing the placement of the Bike Way signs in the county and trying to make it safer to cycle in Washington County. He explained to us the road improvement plans for Bison Road (adding shoulders and of course repaving the portion of Durham to Tuxedo and South of Hwy 60). This would be great for us. He also hopes to improve Durham from Bison to Rd 3980. He also encouraged us to vote for him in the primary election on June 28 if he is your commissioner.
We then discussed the Spring Fling Campout and Ride for May 6-8. We will be camping at Tall Chief Cove in the “A” area. Alan and Rhonda are in A27 and Joel and Shirley are in A26 we can both accommodate tent campers in our camping spot. The camping slots were filling up fast so hope if you are planning to camp you can find one close. The rides will start at 8:30 am so those of you driving will have some extra time to get there. The rides should be from about 45 miles to 75 miles in length. There will be the shorter 45 mile length since that is the distance for our training ride schedule. If you are riding, please notify Shirley Martin at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. We hope you will come ride even if you do not camp since you will get to ride some new routes.
Malcom Joyce then told us about the On the Rock Bike Ride for this year. It will be a southern route with rides in Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas. They have always appreciated our financial support and they also appreciated the donation of bicycle helmets by several of our members last year. Just as a reminder ConocoPhillips will match donations of its employees and retirees.
