Board meeting began at 18:13 on 4/19/10. Meeting was held at Outlaw's Restaurant and members present were Rudy, Kevin, Dan, Marsha and Raymond.
Alan provided a spreadsheet with budget income and expenses. Dan proposed that there was no need for an actual monthly budget report. Over the last 5 years total balance has increased to $1100. Kevin proposed that the club cover all expenses for upcoming Spring Fling, which would include $160 for reservations of camp site plus food expense of up to $100. This would be for the groceries purchased to be used at the campgrounds. The proposal was voted on and approved.
Spring Fling will be May 7-9th at Birch Lake. Norman will be purchasing the groceries for the event. Kevin has the routes ready for the daily rides.
Our next meeting will be on May 17th at the library. Pizza will be provided if there is enough interest.
Rudy briefly acknowledged he is prepared to update the members on the upcoming bike rodeo. He also inquired about types of bike locks that members may have knowledge of. His concern is for the security of children's bikes when they ride to school.
Rudy also addressed a concern for matching a pre-teen triathlon trainer with a club member in a possible mentoring position. The child's parent is not a strong cyclist and there is a need for better training for him in this area.
Board meeting was adjourned at 18:32.
The membership meeting began at 18:46 with introductions. There were 19 members present.

- If COP employee or COP/PPCo retiree, can complete on-line form for COP to match donation if over $50.
- The treasury report was presented by Kevin. There was a deposit of $84 from dues collected and expenses were $308.50. The expenses included $263 for the Cycling Smarts books ordered and $45 for pizza expenses for the March meeting. Our balance is $2658.68.
- The mountain bike report was presented by Malcolm Joyce. There is an upcoming race on May 2nd at Turkey Mountain.
- The road bike report was scheduled to be presented by Alan who was not available. In lieu of that report we learned that Rhonda is in good spirits after her injuries and we wish her speedy recovery.
- Freewheel training rides are going well, however there is a need for more members to volunteer to be ride leaders. The Tuesday and Thursday night rides are up to about 22 miles each evening and the Saturday morning rides are longer. We were reminded to be considerate of drivers when we begin our rides. There have been complaints that we scatter all over the road. This would most likely occur during "mass" take offs. Also be courteous at stop signs and take turns, two riders at a time. It is a good idea to always have lights in place on your bike too, as you never know when you may have something detain your arrival home and you may need to have the lights available. It is better to be safe than sorry.
- Flower Power is this Saturday, April 24th, and there are several Pedalers who intend to ride.
- The web/newsletter update was not presented as Dale was not available.
- Old business
- Keith updated us on freewheel information. New jerseys are being designed. The deadline to save on registration for freewheel is April 30th. Speed wheel is scheduled for Wednesday, June 16th at Tahlequah. Many club members indicate intentions to ride in the OK Freewheel this year.
- Rudy presented a bicycle rodeo update. The rodeo is scheduled for May 1st. He passed a sign up sheet around for volunteers to help set up on Friday night, April 30th or Saturday morning if rain and for help with the rodeo itself. He explained it is not a competition but an instructional event. The intent is to instill safe riding practices among the participants. There will be loaner helmets available along with bicycle inspections before the ride. The police department will have a presentation. There is a picture inviting the participants to identify 12 hazards to the cyclists. The course will include a rock dodge, who's there, crazy cross roads and rail road crossings. Cory and Mike Maloney have donated the funds for a Trek bike to be presented to the winner of a drawing for the bike. There is hopes to come up with the funds to present two bikes, one for a girl and one for a boy.
- Kevin shared the Spring Fling update. It is scheduled for May 7th-9th at Birch Lake. He passed around the sign up sheet for any corrections or additions to be made. There are approximately 15 members who intend to participate. Camping will be Friday night and Saturday night, with rides beginning each morning at 8. On Saturday the ride will be 60 miles, traveling through Ramona, Vera, Skiatook and Avant. On Sunday there will be 30 and 60 mile options available. The proposal was presented to the members that the club pay for the expenses of the camp site and the groceries. Dan stated that the administrative efforts for collection of individual fees was lengthy and the club could easily absorb the expenses. The motion was made by Norman to accept the proposal and seconded by Jimmy. The vote was placed and unanimously approved. Any Spring Fling questions should be emailed to Kevin.
- New business was presented by Malcolm Joyce. He reminded us that the On the Rock ride is coming up. They will ride the Katy trail. Conoco Phillips will match funds and even wages for time volunteered to help with worthy causes. The cost for the ride is $350 per child. If Pedalers choose to financially support the event they should post Pedaler in the memo of the check so that the club can match the donation. Sean motioned that the club should agree to match the donations again this year as they have in the past. The motion was seconded, voted and passed. The club will match up to $350.
- Rudy brought up three items. First he took the opportunity to thank the volunteers who signed up to help with the rodeo. Secondly he stated he is looking for helpful ideas of how to help the students to be able to lock up their bikes while they are in school. He asked that suggestions be emailed to him. Lastly, he is trying to help a neighbor who has a 12 year old son who is training for a triathlon. He needs someone to help him train for the cycling part of the event. Some of the members have suggested that Rudy contact Steve Corbitt or Laurie Smith for advice. There was also discussion of the Little One Hundred that used to be headed up by Tom Rovenstine.
- Lee's Bicycle shop has moved to down town Tulsa.
- Another new bike shop has opened close to Home Depot, downtown Tulsa.
- Meeting was officially adjourned at 19:42.
